When you use the Service, we store:

  • Uploaded files (PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF — up to 10 MB each)
  • Responses submitted by you or others (type, comment, timestamp)
  • Finish times and creation timestamps

2.3 Automatically Collected Data

We may automatically collect:

  • Browser type and version
  • Device information
  • Access timestamps
  • Referring URLs

2.4 Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how users interact with the Service. GA4 may collect:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Browser type, device type, and screen resolution
  • Approximate geographic location (country/city level, based on IP address)
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the Service)

  • Firebase Authentication — for managing user sessions
  • Cloud Firestore — for storing Kailan data and responses
  • Firebase Storage — for hosting uploaded files

5. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

  • Kailan data — Automatically deleted 7 days after the finish time has passed. This includes titles, descriptions, responses, and uploaded files.
  • Account information — Retained as long as you have an active account. You may request deletion by contacting us.
  • User-deleted content — When you manually delete a Kailan, all associated data (including stored files) is permanently removed.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

  • With other users — Your name and profile photo are visible to anyone who views a Kailan you created or responded to.
  • Service providers — We use the following third-party services to operate Kailan:
    • Google Firebase — for authentication, data storage, and file hosting
    • Vercel — for web application hosting and content delivery
    • Google Analytics 4 — for anonymous usage analytics

    These providers may process your data in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

  • Legal requirements — We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Safety — We may disclose data if we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of any person or to prevent illegal activity.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Kailan uses:

  • Firebase Authentication tokens — Stored in your browser to maintain your session
  • Local Storage — Used to store preferences such as your preferred view mode (card or compact)
  • Google Analytics cookies — Used to collect anonymous usage data for service improvement. These cookies are set by Google and are subject to Google's privacy policy.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We use Google Analytics cookies solely for understanding usage patterns and improving the Service.

8. Your Rights

10. Google Account Data

Kailan accesses your Google account data solely through the Google Sign-In API. We only request the minimum permissions necessary to provide the Service (profile information and email address).

You can manage your Google account permissions and revoke access at any time through your Google Account Settings.

11. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States and other countries where Google operates Firebase infrastructure. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on the Service and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
